Paula has served as the Coordinator of Experiential Education at Williams since 2002. She earned her doctorate in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1992 with specialization in American Politics, Public Policy & Administration and Political Behavior. Prior to coming to Williams, she taught at Union College in Schenectady, NY where she developed a local government fieldwork program. Her research experience includes a study of the educational effects of jury service, organizational consulting work for The World Bank, the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the Rockefeller Institute, and the Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority. She is co-author with Todd LaPorte of the widely cited article, “Working in Practice but not in Theory: Theoretical Challenges of High Reliability Organizations”, and has produced interactive community public affairs television programs and produced and directed BREAKING THE MOLD, a video documentary on an employee buyout.
