Williams is partnering with the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) to support student, faculty, and staff transportation needs and to help expand bus service between Williamstown, North Adams, and Pittsfield for everyone in North Berkshire. Williams students, faculty and staff can ride FREE (when showing Williams ID) as they travel to volunteer, work, shop or just explore the Route 2 and Route 8 corridors into North Adams and Pittsfield, respectively! The most relevant routes are listed below. For complete bus schedules, route maps and fare information, go to the BRTA website at berkshirerta.com.
The more we ride the bus, the stronger the case the BRTA will be able to make to the State and other funders for better service in our region. Students, faculty, and staff can help by taking the bus often and providing feedback, both on this site and directly to the BRTA. Help us move quickly up the learning curve and double our ridership by the end of this year! Check this site and WSO for updates, promotions and other ways you can help.

ROUTE INFORMATION: Williams students, faculty and staff ride FREE (when showing Williams ID) during the ENTIRE CALENDAR YEAR on all routes in North Berkshire (#1,#3, #34 and relevant Off-Service runs). For main schedules, route maps and other transit information go to http://www.berkshirerta.com/schedules.php. For real-time bus schedule information for your chosen route, use Google Maps, selecting the public transit tab in your search for directions.
Off-Service Bus Access from Pittsfield to Williamstown via Route 7: This service provides the opportunity for riders to take the BRTA buses on their way to and from Pittsfield to begin the #3 runs in North County. The early morning off-service bus leaves the BRTA garage south of the Allendale shopping area at 6:00 am traveling via Crane Avenue to Route 7 arriving at the Williamstown Rotary site by 7:45. The mid-afternoon #3 bus travels from the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) in downtown Pittsfield departing at 1:30pm. It runs up Route 7 arriving at the Williamstown Rotary site by 2:15pm. These buses provide service on their way back to Pittsfield, one departing the Williamstown Rotary at 3:15 arriving at the ITC at about 4pm. The last bus departs the Williamstown Rotary at 6:45pm, arriving at Downing Industrial Park about 7:25. Interested riders should contact the BRTA (413-499-2782, x1) to arrange for pick up along these routes.
