Student Employment Information

Important, please read: Notes on Communication with the Classroom Teacher. One of the crucial elements both for the success of the program and your success working at the elementary school is that you communicate with the classroom teacher as much as possible.

Remember to turn in your filled out timecards according to dates on the schedule so that you get paid for your work :)

Do not work during elementary school holidays or Williams holidays. If you miss any other times, you can make up your hours. You may choose to continue over Winter Study and the Spring semester. ALWAYS CALL YOUR TEACHER AT THE SCHOOL IF YOU ARE SICK OR UNABLE TO COME IN FOR A SCHEDULED VISIT :)

Just to reiterate – here is the way to get paid for your teaching and non-teaching hours.  Also, PLEASE turn in your time cards even if getting paid is not that important to you.  It lets us know that you are still working regularly and helps prevent problems with payroll.

For every lesson that you teach (whether it takes 45 minutes or 1 1/2 hours) pay yourself for two and half hours of teaching, planning and prep time.  So, if you teach once a week then pay yourself for 2 1/2 hours on your timecard.  If you spend additional time in the classroom (not teaching science or just helping out) that time will be volunteer.  The maximum number of hours you can work is 5 hours per week.  If you are only teaching science once a week then you may work an additional 2.5 hours assisting at Williamstown Elementary School.  Contact me to work additional hours. If this is still unclear PLEASE contact me with questions.
